How I Use ChatGPT as a Copywriting Tool (and Not Sound Generic AF)

Cozypreneur Episode 33

If you’re a business owner who freezes up every time you open a blank doc — but you also don’t want to sound like an AI robot — you’re in the right place.

In this episode of Cozypreneur, I’m breaking down exactly how I use ChatGPT to speed up my writing process, spark better ideas, and make writing way less stressful (without losing my actual voice along the way).

How I wrote before ChatGPT — and why swipe files saved me

Before AI entered the chat, swipe files were my go-to. Whenever I needed to write something like a launch sequence, I’d pull examples, adapt them, and piece everything together like a puzzle. It helped me structure copy faster without ever feeling like I was starting from scratch.

Why ChatGPT made everything harder at first

When ChatGPT first dropped, it actually slowed me down. I had a system. I had a flow. And suddenly, using AI felt like cleaning up someone else’s mess. It wasn’t until I started training it with my actual writing samples that it finally became a tool that helped instead of hindered.

How I actually use ChatGPT to write smarter (not lazier)

Today, ChatGPT is basically my brainstorming partner. I use it to:

  • Outline episodes, email sequences, and sales pages

  • Brainstorm questions that sharpen my messaging

  • Structure ideas in a way that feels less overwhelming

  • Spot patterns I might not see when I’m too close to the project

I also upload client work, emails, and launch materials so it has real examples to pull from. That’s the key to making AI outputs sound like you instead of generic copy-and-paste content.

The biggest mistakes people make with AI

Here’s where most people go wrong:

  • Asking it to write full drafts without giving enough direction

  • Skipping brainstorming and editing steps

  • Copy-pasting outputs without personalizing them

If you’re not inserting your own strategy, your own stories, and your own tone into the final version, it’s going to sound like everyone else out there.

The real secret: Treat it like a tool, not a shortcut

You still have to brainstorm. You still have to draft. You still have to edit. ChatGPT can make all of those steps faster and easier — but it can’t replace you. When you approach AI like a collaborative tool instead of a shortcut, you end up with copy that feels personal, polished, and powerful.
